Call me: Annie
Occupation: New Media Journalist
Can’t live without: coffee
Proud moment: When my daughter told me what I do is “amazing”
Moved from the Bronx to Boston in: 9/2009
You wouldn’t guess that I: played NCAA softball @ Lehman College
On a serious note: download my CV & Resume or view my multimedia and writing clips.
My reporting has appeared on WNYC.org, Huffington Post, Gannet Journal News, Norwood News, Open Media Boston, PBS.org, WGBHLab.org, WORLDCOMPASS.org and the Knight Foundation News Blog. I also authored Crowdsourcing: A Field Guide from WNYC .
As a reporter and multimedia producer, I look for projects where I can help increase interaction with the public, especially with social media tools and with crowd-powered reporting. I bring a traditional set of journalistic skills and knowledge of new ways to report, share and distribute stories online. Obtaining a Masters in Interactive Journalism is a recent career change for me, so I’m comfortable in a shifting news landscape, but I also bring a mature view to the work I do. I believe we are past the point of established organizations being the only source for news, yet they remain go-to centers of information right now. By using hybrid reporting–working with the people on the street who are recording and bearing witness to events–we can create fuller, richer news coverage. Hey, Annie! I couldn’t reply to your DM (you’re not following me
, so I’m doing that here. I know “Mennonite Game” annoys some entering from other traditions. For me, numbers are still small enough that it’s nice to bump into kindred spirits. It’s fun getting to know people on the pubmedia chats. I hope to meet you sometime at one of the camps. Peace.
Hi Annie,
Just got the e-mail confirming your pledge..I can’t begin to tell you how helpful your offer of support is to us…Your generosity is truly moving. Please keep in touch. We will of course follow up with updates to all of our backers…Right now we are 26% of the way there. Hope you will have the opportunity to see our film someday soon. Did you hear about our project from someone connected to the film or did you come across it on the Kickstarter site?
All the best,
Roland
Oh, I’m a long-time believer, Roland. You may remember me better as Lillian Martinez’s “little sister”. I had the opportunity to sit in your poetry class once, I saw Joe in action and I even attended a poetry slam at your loft. What you are doing is awesome and I only wish I could support you more. ~Annie
